Sushi Ninja – Westgate Center, Alabang

Having Sushi Ninja across Fitness First in Westgate Center is a blessing and a curse. It’s good to have one of my favorite cuisines within reach but that can simply waste all the sweat and tears shredded on workout, too.

I did not expect the place to be crowded because it looks quiet and neat from the outside. They definitely are able to establish a good customer base for the quality of food and service they provide.

Sake (Salmon) Sashimi (PHP320.00). This is a staple for me whenever I go to a Japanese restaurant. 7 slices for PHP320.00 is not bad. This sake sashimi is not the best but far from being the worst either.

Hiroshima Maki (PHP380.00). I was surprised with the serving size of their maki rolls. Unlike the typical case when food looks bigger in photos, this one looks much smaller in photos. If you are not a heavy eater, try not to order too much. This roll has spicy salmon, kani, ebi tempura, spicy mayo, tempura flakes & ebiko. Just imagine how much seafood there is and how rich the flavor is. With everything taken with one bite, it’s an explosion for flavors! Want more spice? Ask for more spicy mayo for hotter experience!

Shinjuku Maki (PHP490.00). This roll is even bigger than Hiroshima Maki. I had difficulty eating a piece in one bite. This roll is deep-fried with spicy tuna, unagi, tamago, topped with kani, ebiko, Japanese mayo, special sauce and black sesame seeds. The sweetness of tamago gave this maki a unique experience. Again, the balance and blend of flavors in this is just delectable!

Oedo Toshi (PHP360.00). It is my first time to see this way of serving wagyu beef. A slice of wagyu beef with wasabi mayo and negi on top of a toshi. Toshi is deep-fried battered rice ball. Although I am not a fan of this, the wagyu beef is tender and complements the rice ball well.

Sushi Nori – OMG Roll

The Seventh Hero - OMG Rolls - Sushi Nori

OMG Rolls (Php 289.00). Blow-torched Salmon, Ebiko (prawn eggs), Cucumber, Aburi Sauce. This sushi has a slice of salmon inside and outside the roll. The rolls areĀ topped with Aburi sauce which gives a creamy and rich taste to it. The creaminess and richness is balanced by the crunchiness and freshness of the cucumber in every bite. Must try!

Tokyo Bubble Tea

Past midnight and still can’t decide what to eat. One thing is for sure, Japanese food is always an option. Good thing Tokyo Bubble Tea in Eastwood City is still open.

The Seventh Hero - Salmon Sashimi

I always look for Salmon Sashimi (175.00). To my dismay, I can tell that this one is not fresh at first glance. It is not even cold.

The Seventh Hero - Sunshine Rolls

Sunshine Roll (Php 265.00) has baked salmon, mongo, cucumber, kani and tamago. It is topped with cream cheese sauce and house blend fruity mayo. This one is a feast but not in good shape. The rolls fall apart easily because the rice is not soft and sticky enough. It also lacks the freshness of the fruity mayo and cucumber.

The Seventh Hero - Takoyaki

Takoyaki (Php 178.00) is a good pick. These octopus balls come with mayo, katsubushi and sweet takoyaki sauce.

The Seventh Hero - Royal Milk Tea w Egg Pudding and Bubbles

Of course, I will definitely not miss the Royal Milk Tea with Egg Pudding and Bubbles (Php 135.00). This is their classic milk tea. Just like other milk tea shops, you have the option to adjust the sugar level and the sinkers.

Watami – Shangri-La Plaza

This is a disaster for someone who likes Japanese food. The price is cheaper than others but the quality of food is below acceptable.

The Spicy Salmon Tempura is not spicy at all. It doesn’t even tastes like there is Salmon in there. It just tastes like rice rolled with a sheet of nori for a price of Php 225.00. The pieces of these rolls are also plated chaotically in an old, almost decomposing, chopping board.

The Seventh Hero - Watami 2

The cold soba doesn’t come with anything other than the dipping sauce. The dipping sauce is actually good and refreshing. There is a generous amount of soba but it’s a boring dish for Php 225.00.

The Seventh Hero - Watami

The meat in their skewers are tough so I do not recommend those either.

If you are looking for an enjoyable Japanese cuisine experience, Watami should probably be one of the last things on your list.

Sushi Nori – Sushi Dreams

Sushi Nori is one of the best sushi joints out there. You can choose how you want your sushi prepared, either Temaki Handroll or Maki Rolls.

The Seventh Hero - Sushi Nori - Sushi Dreams

Sushi Dreams is my favorite among all their special sushis. For Php229.00, I get six rolls of this high quality, carefully crafted sushi. It has Salmon, Kani, Cream Cheese, and Crunchy Tempura Flakes. The rice they use has a really good texture and the rolls are very intact. In every bite, I taste how all the flavors come together with a sweet kick. Also, the tempura flakes adds more experience and sensation.
