Teddy’s Bigger Burgers

Teddy's Bigger Burgers

Before watching Big Hero 6, we decided to have a quick snack at Teddy’s Bigger Burgers in Greenbelt, Makati. The place was a bit cramped but we declined to take a seat outside. Luckily, a table was vacated few minutes after we came in.

I ordered for a medium cooked Teddy’s Original Burger that comes with some french fries and iced tea (PHP 365.00). Given the price, I expected so much since I tasted really good burgers that were even cheaper. However, I would say that their burger was just okay. It wasn’t bad at all but it wasn’t really good either. It surely was big but it lacked taste and juiciness for me. Perhaps, if the price was lower, I would recommend it.

Snacking on Doughnut & Grapes

Grapes and Doughnut

I found these on the fridge when I was looking for something to eat. According to some sources I found online, doughnuts were used to be called ‘olykoeks’ which is a Dutch word that means ‘oily cakes’. While it doesn’t look like very nutritious, volunteer girls fed doughnuts to hungry American soldiers during World War I. Interesting, yeah?

Enough with doughnuts and let’s talk about grapes. Grapes are berries that increases the levels of nitric acid. With that, it helps minimizing chances of heart attacks by preventing blood clots. It can also alleviate fatigue, migraine and kidney illnesses. While there are many benefits of eating grapes, consuming it too much can have laxative effect which can either be beneficial or disadvantageous.

Call the Nurse – Burgers & Brewskies

Call the Nurse - Burgers & Brewskies

It is a Friday that I have been waiting for because my colleagues scheduled a night out. Our first stop was Burgers & Brewskies which is located at Burgos Circle, Bonifacio Global City.

Given its name, you would already know what to expect – burgers! I have been in this place for several times already and I have been ordering the same thing. I ordered for a Mac and cheese burger called Call the Nurse and bottle of Stella Artois. Burger and beer always work together for me.

Call the Nurse cost me PHP 290.00 and it’s definitely worth it. It has 1/3 lb 100% imported beef patty topped with honey Sriracha Bacon and seared mac and cheese as shown in the photo. The patty was really tender and but not as juicy as the patties of Burger Bar. Nonetheless, I recommend this place to those who would have a chance to go to Burgos Circle.

Arceli’s Peanut Butter

Arceli's Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is one of the all-time favorite spreads around the globe. Although there are different kinds of peanut butter out there, nothing beats homemade ones.

Arceli’s Peanut Butter is an original recipe created by my grandmother back in Pagsanjan, Laguna. It is crafted the old-fashioned way. Unlike other peanut butters that are either smooth or crunchy, Arceli’s achieved a very natural feel on the mouth because of its gritty texture.

Queens at Bollywood, Greenbelt 3

Indian food is one of my favorites. If you are looking for one, you better try Queens at Bollywood. I’ve been to their Greenbelt 3 branch and I am not sure whether they have other branches. The food and staff are really nice. It’s worth every penny.

Papadum

The staff served us with complimentary Papadum first. It’s a crispy, round Indian appetizer. I have to warn you about the dip – lentil and tamarind dips are very addictive.  They are very rich in flavor that you would find it difficult to stop munching the crackling with it. It could also be too spicy for some people.

Chicken and Vegetable Samosa

Next in line is the Chicken and Vegetable Samosa. You have the option to have all chicken, all vegetable or a combination of both. I prefer the Vegetable Samosa over the Chicken Samosa. This is actually an Indian fried or baked pastry filled with potatoes, peas, etc.

Butter Naan and Tikka Chicken Masala

Lastly, we got Butter Naan and Chicken Tikka Masala. Naan is a common oven-baked flatbread. I love dipping this on the tomato buttered and spiced sauce of the Chicken Tikka Masala. If I remember it right, they have three flavors of Naan – butter, cheese and garlic.

Overall, this is one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to in the Metro. Price would probably range from Php 400.00 – Php 700.00 per person.

Project Pie, Bluebay Walk

I know I’m not one of the firsts to try this out. In fact, probably one of the lasts to be here. Nonetheless, I think it’s worth sharing.

It’s my first time to try Project Pie after all the fad about it. I, truly, am not disappointed for trying it out. No question, the pizza was great. It’s your pick if you want to choose from their standard menu and customize it or totally invent your own pizza. For the price of Php 285.00, they provide you with whatever toppings you want.

We got two pizzas. For the first one, we chose Number 2 from their menu which has their signature red sauce, pepperoni, mozzarella, Italian sausage, garlic, and crumbled meatballs. The second pizza was Number 3 with additional grilled chicken.

Project Pie Bluebay Walk

On top of quality pizza, I like how the servers treat the customers. They were all so friendly and lively. I hope they stay that way because it builds a good ambiance.

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake Shake

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake Shake Marked
We went to Burger Bar in Greenbelt last night when this drink caught A’s attention from the flip card menu on the table. It is meant to be good for two as the menu said but I personally can finish the entire glass myself if I weren’t on a strict diet. This glass of goodness costs Php 265.00.

Sweet-tooth people would definitely love this. The name is kind of misleading, though. The drink wasn’t topped with raspberries as we expected. It was topped with strawberries instead. The raspberry part was the swirl of raspberry at bottom of the glass. We both enjoyed the consistency especially when the taste of cheesecake reached our palette. It wasn’t, however, served cold. Not even chilled. Nonetheless, we both recommend this.

I usually have my burger with a bottle of beer. But I suggest that you skip your bottle of beer for once and try this next time you visit Burger Bar! Let me know what you think of it!

The Progress

It has been around one month and two weeks since I started to workout regularly. By regularly I mean three to five times a week. I also cut my intake of carbs especially on non-workout days. Plus, I have been drinking lots of soy milk.

My workout is combination of weightlifting and suspension training. I barely do cardio. The most would be 10 minutes on elliptical machine before I lift. But I don’t do it every time.

At this point, there is a noticeable changed in my body. I definitely shredded some amount of body fats. My abs is starting to flatten and my legs are starting to shrink. My arms and chest started to be in shape too but it still depletes so fast before I can work them out again. How do I resolve this?

People I met affirmed how leaner I got. I lost 3lbs but I don’t think that it could be a good metric since I am also trying to gain muscle mass at the same time.

Sumibi Yakiniku Tajimaya

Yakiniku has been around the country for quite some time already and the fad has not died a bit. People who goes to these smokeless grills have their own reasons. Some fancy the act of grilling food on the table while some are attracted to this healthier option. The popular yakiniku restaurants usually have eat-all-you-can buffet setup.

Sumibi Yakiniku Tajimaya

Last weekend I found out of the quality yakiniku in the Metro – Sumibi Yakiniku Tajimaya. This one is located at the second level of Mall of Asia, facing the sea.

They have a wide variety of choices from different kinds of meat to all sorts of flavors. As I go through their heavy menu, I saw that they actually offer eat-all-you-can, too. That is Php 599.00 per person and it comes with bottomless iced tea. Since it was my first time there and I am not particularly familiar with everything else in their menu, I gave it a shot.

Sumibi Yakiniku Tajimaya 2

The offer comes with a platter of beef, pork, chicken, cuttle fish, squid rolls, sausage, shrimp, salad, sancyu, kimuchi, namuru, and rice. Upon ordering, the server notified us that they have time limit for the eat-all-you-can offer. They give their customers one hour and thirty minutes which is a pretty reasonable time.

This restaurant isn’t buffet-style. When you finish a platter, you just get their attention and ask for another platter. Just make sure to specify how much you want. Of course, just like any other eat-all-you-can, they have the no leftovers policy on the second and succeeding platter that you request for. For the first platter, you can just let them be especially if you don’t like it. They won’t charge you for it. I remember not finishing the cuttlefish and squid rolls but was able to ask for more beef.

Sumibi Yakiniku Tajimaya 3

This yakiniku is a good find. The only negative comment I could give is the poor ventilation. I have not checked the other areas, but the area were at stayed was warm to the point that it made me sweat. Value for money is awesome and the staff are pleasant.

They have another branch in One Rockwell. I hope they put up more branches since Mall of Asia is always crowded and finding a cab in this area is stressful.
